READ THESE EFFECTIVE 15 TIPS (A-Z) TO PREVENT YOUR MOBILE SMARTPHONE FROM OVERHEATING
Most of the smartphone users are experiencing this annoying issue of heating up of their mobile smartphone.
They would have purchased the phone spending more than 200 dollars (more than 12,000 INR). Everything is ok for the few days. Then, starts the problem of overheating.
Some times, the heating up starts even from the day one.
Mobile overheating causes the following effects:
(1) Your battery becomes a scrap very fast.
(2) The phone mother board including processors, RAM/ ROM becomes weak and become faulty very fast.
(3) It affects the nerves of the person who uses the phone.
Two generalised reasons for overheating of mobiles:
(1) the standard/ fault of components used in the smartphone. Or
(2) the way how we use the smartphone.
Before taking your phone to the service center, first try the following tips:
15 A-Z Tips to prevent heating up of smartphones
(1) ENSURE THAT THE BATTERY IS ORIGINAL:
If you had changed your original battery, ensure that you have changed only the company made original battery. Some compatible batteries may be unstable and hence give excessive strain to the processor, RAM, etc. Therefore, always buy original battery from the manufacturer.
(2) DO NOT PUT IN CHARGING AND SLEEP:
Many have the habit of putting the phone in charging and sleep. The overnight or excessive charging may cause the components to heat up. It affects the components in due course of time. Therefore, stop charging once the indicator lines stop moving and it shows “FULLY CHARGED”.
(3) DO NOT PLAY GAMES AND VIDEOS FOR LONG TIME:
In general, the heating up will be more while playing games or watching videos, because it requires more memory and power. Most of the memory is held up and the battery starts draining fast while playing games and videos. Therefore, after playing games/ videos for about half an hour, give a pause for about 10 minutes. Continuous usage increases heat in your phone.
(4) CHECK THE BACKGROUND APPS:
Some apps are the real culprits and they consume excessive memory. You might have installed news apps, reminder apps, etc., that are always running in the background and sending notifications. Some apps like Google Play Services and those apps that send regular notifications will also consume more memory. Therefore, keep the apps deactivated. Whenever you like to check the updates, news and notifications, activate them, read and then, deactivate again.
(5) TURN OFF UNUSED FEATURES:
We do not use internet and Bluetooth all the time. Always keep the Bluetooth in “OFF” position. Only when you need to transfer the files, switch on the Bluetooth.
SHAREIT app consumes less memory compared to Bluetooth and hence you may use it for local sharings.
As far as the internet is concerned, have a regulation. Allot a time to use internet everyday. Turn on the internet and turn off again after using all the required features. Have a habit of checking and replying in Facebook, whatsapp, etc., only once or twice every day.
In general, if you have a laptop or desktop in your home, you can use internet (except whatsapp and urgent internet use) through your computer in a fixed convenient time every day. Too much of usage of mobile phone for so many activities make the components weak earlier and too much of load cause the phone heating up. The components of smartphones are more sensitive than that in computers. Except urgent works for all other activities in the internet, I use only my laptop.
(6) CHECK THE STRENGTH OF 3G/ 4G SIGNAL:
If the signal strength of 3G/ 4G/ above is very weak in any area, it is better to switch off the 3G/ 4G/ above feature and enable them only when you use them. Because, weak singals give strain to your mobile because it has to work hard to gather the signal that causes heat due to strain. Using 2G for calls and messages will give less strain to your phone. If you use 3G/4G & above alone for calls too, speak from an open place where there is sufficient signal. If this too does not help, post your connection to an another operator who gives good signals in your area.
(7) CLEAR THE GARBAGE REGULARLY:
This is also an important step you should take. Whenever you use your mobile phone for calls, internet, sharings, videos, games, etc, some temporary files, caches, etc., are created and stored in your phone that consumes more memory and space. Therefore, you have to clear them regularly, otherwise, you will end up in short of memory and space.
To clear these garbages, there is a nice app CLEAN MASTER LITE in the Google App Store. Search, download and install it in your smartphone. The app itself will regularly remind you to clear the garbages. It has the features of clearing Junk files, phone boost, Battery saver to hibernate the apps that consume more battery life, and antivirus also. Since this is used by me also, I know how sincere it is in clearing the garbages. Cleanse your phone whenever this app reminds you. You will get rid of plenty of MBs of garbages regularly.
(8) REMOVE EXTRA FITTINGS:
Most of then users use extra cover for their mobiles to avoid scratching. Actually, the heat emitted by your phone should be sent out properly, otherwise, it will remain inside the mobile itself that increases the heating level. Therefore, better use the smartphone with its original case itself. If you use plastic made extra cover, it may prevent the heat from going out. You may go for scratch-protected Gorilla Glasss phones that are now available, to avoid scratches, if you purchase next time.
(9) DISABLE THE GPS:
GPS is not required for most of the people or most of the time except there is a real neeed for it. Therefore, ensure that the GPS in your mobile phone has been disabled.
(10) DO NOT HAVE SO MANY APPS:
If you check the smartphones of some people, they would have downloaded and stored so many apps. Most of them they do not use even once a month. Therefore, go to the settings –> Other settings –> applications manager and check the portion “downloaded applications”. It will show all the apps that you have downloaded and installed so far. Do the following:
Click on the name of every app and see the two options shown:
(i) UNINSTALL the apps that you never use at all, without hesitation. If you need them later, you can download them and use.
(ii) FORCE STOP the apps that are used by you only now and then. They will be automatically ENABLED/ STARTED whenever you use those apps again or whenever you restart your mobile. After using, FORCE STOP them again. This will prevent these apps from consuming more memory unnecessarily.
When you try to force stop, it will show warning as “If you force stop the app, it will cause errors”. Do not care the warning message. It is general warning only and meant for a few apps only. Force stop is the only option available to stop that app till you restart the mobile again. Once you switch off your mobile and restart, then some of the stopped apps may start to run automatically. Therefore if you restart on any day, force stop the selected apps again. If you are confused which apps to stop and which are essential, my suggestion is, download and install CCLEANER PROFESSIONAL PLUS (or) “Clean Master Lite”. It will show which apps are consuming more memory and whether we can deactivate them or we must have that app. If it says that it can be deactivated/ hibernated you can deactivate/ hibernate them. I will update this message in my post. Thanks for raising this confusion. If your phone does not allow the Clean Master to hibernate the apps, just get the details of memory consuming apps from clean master and then, you can manually hibernate (force stop) them one by one as written above.
To your consideration, you may always keep the following TEN APPS that are essentials in any smartphone:
TEN APPS EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE IN THEIR SMARTPHONE
(i) Play store (ii) Facebook lite (iii) Twitter (if you use) (iii) SHAREIT (iv) Dictionary (v) Call recorder (vi) CCLEANER PROFESSIONAL PLUS OR CLEAN MASTER LITE (vii) Any one or two apps that helps you in your business or spirituality or hobby. (viii) Your Bank Mobile App (ix) Call Taxi App (x) Good antivirus (like Avast).
More unwanted apps, more consumption of memory and more heating.
(11) UPDATE OLD VERSIONS:
Keeping older versions of apps and your OS (Eg: Android) itself, may make their functions difficult and hence may lead to excessive heating. Therefore, keep the automatic updates on for all the apps and your O.S. This will make your phone function comfortably with less stress and also less vulnerability.
(12) DISABLE WIFI WHERE IT IS NOT AVAILABLE:
Always keeping the WIFI on is another reason for the phone getting heated because the phone will always be searching for WIFI signals. Therefore, keep the WIFI off and enable it only when you use it in a wifi spot.
(13) KEEP THE BRIGHTNESS & VOLUME AT 50-60%:
More brightness, more usage of power, more emittance of light rays and hence more heating. It may make your eyes tired fast. Therefore, even 50-60% of the brightness will be sufficient for normal usage. Excessive volume is also power consuming and hence heating. Therefore, keep the sound at the sufficient level.
(14) INSUFFICIENT ‘RAM’ :
When the capacity of your phone’s RAM is insufficient, it gives strain to the processors and components and hence the phone may heat up. Therefore, increase the capacity of RAM in a good service center. If you use the phone just for calls and basic internet, even 2 GB RAM is sufficient. But, when you use more apps, videos and games, you may need more RAM to make the phone function freely without struggling for memory.
(15) ADD or UPGRADE ‘ROM’:
Custom ROM can increase the performance of the phone even during heavy usage. Therefore, consider inserting or upgrading ROM to sufficient capacity in a service center.
These are the general reasons that may make your smartphone heating up faster. Any few or all the above moderation steps if taken collectively, can make your smartphone not getting heated up. First try these corrections and wait for 2-3 days.
If the reason for heating is because of the above reasons, your phone should work cool.
In case, the heating still persists, there is nothing to do by yourself. This is the time to take it to your service man.
In case your phone is still in warranty, ask for replacement or correction without hesitation. It is their duty to correct this or replace the phone itself.
If the warranty period is over, go to the company service center itself for a paid service so that they will replace with original parts.
Hope these tips will be of great help to you. If you have any other proven tips, share in the comments. I will include it in the post if it is found worthy.
